Creating Tactile Monuments required a different approach than the one-of-a-kind collaborations that came before it. After a series of expressive projects with invited designers, the ambition was to define a language for Yves Salomon Éditions: objects with enough presence to transform a space, while remaining grounded in comfort and everyday use. Searching for this balance, the collection looks toward elemental forms shaped by proportion and an instinctive relationship with material. Inspired by stones, caves, and natural volumes, the pieces suggest objects shaped slowly over time.

“With this collection we wanted something instinctive,” Boyer explains. “Almost like a big rock where the material has been removed to create a space inside.”

The armchair transforms the idea of a seat into a protective volume. Its continuous surface surrounds the body, creating the sensation of entering a space rather than simply sitting on an object. The sofa expands this gesture into a larger landscape. Its generous proportions create a place for gathering and immersion, while its monolithic form reflects the collection’s balance between sculpture and comfort. The ottoman continues this exploration of volume and softness. Sharing the same construction and generous proportions, it creates a visual and material connection between the pieces. The daybed translates these ideas into an elongated form. Framed by two rounded volumes, it creates the impression of a single sculpted object shaped around the body.

Across the collection, shearling was the starting point for each design. The forms were created to highlight the natural qualities of the material: the way it holds light, brings warmth, changes under the hand, and shapes the relationship between an object and the body. The visible composition of individual shearling panels reveals the hand of the atelier. Each section is selected, cut, assembled, and sewn through Yves Salomon’s Paris workshops, allowing variations in tone and texture to become part of the identity of each piece.
